Brandywine Red is a big, meaty Tomato with a mild, sweet, nonacidic flavor that many people rate as simply the best. And that flavor is what prompted home gardeners to save seeds of it for the past 100 years, even though the fruits occasionally develop some cracking. This hefty, beefsteak-type Tomato ripens to a pinkish red and is best for fresh eating.
Keep the soil moist at 75 degrees F.
The plants prefers well-drained, fertile soil. Fertile clays and loams produce the highest yields, but lighter soils that drain and warm quickly can produce earlier harvests. It can tolerate slightly acidic soils, and is most productive with pH 6.0 to 6.8.
