The Sprengeri fern is native to Cape Province of South Africa. Despite its name, the Sprengeri fern is not actually a fern, but a flowering evergreen angiosperm with short, leaf-like branches called cladophylls that grows well in U.S. Department of Agriculture zones 7 to 10. The feathery cascading branches make the Sprengeri fern a favorite choice for florists. The sap of this plant can can cause irritation, so handle with care.
Plant in well drained soil. Water regularly. Keep soil surface moist but not soggy and mist foliage when watering. Fertilize once or twice a week. Prune back old stems to make room for new growth.
